This one started out as a big question mark, salmon and pizza? We know it sounds crazy. All of the internet recipes we researched used a lot of smoked salmon but we wanted to put the salmon on the pizza raw and have it bake into the pizza with all of the other toppings, so that’s what we did! And the result was a fully loaded masterpiece of rich cheese, bacon, maple salmon topped with fresh arugula and dill. It. was. so. good. Grab yourself some sustainable salmon at your next homemade pizza making night, you won’t be disappointed.

Ingredients:

  • Store-bought refrigerated pizza dough

  • 2 tsp oil

  • 1/2 pound of fresh Norwegian Salmon, sliced thinly into 1 inch pieces

  • 2 1/2 tbsp maple syrup

  • 1 tsp salt

  • 1 tsp pepper

  • 4 pieces of thick cut bacon

  • 1 cup grated sharp cheddar cheese

  • 3/4 cup grated fresh mozzarella

  • 1 cup sharp cheddar cheese, grated or finely chopped

  • 1/3 cup thinly sliced red onion

  • 1 tsp garlic powder

  • 1 1/2 cups of fresh arugula

  • 1 tbsp fresh dill, chopped

Directions:

Preheat oven to 425 degrees Fahrenheit.

Take your bacon and cook it in a sauté pan on medium heat until slightly crisp and then remove from the heat.

While the bacon cooks, put 1 tsp of the oil on a pizza stone and rub all over the pizza stone. Put the remaining tsp of oil on your hands and slightly on the pizza dough so you can handle it.

Put the dough on the pizza stone and use your hands to spread the dough evenly to the edge of the pizza stone.

Grate your cheese and slice your onion and set aside. Slice your salmon into 1/21 inch thick/1 inch wide pieces. Pour the maple syrup on the salmon and season with salt and pepper. Toss this salmon mixture to season all of the salmon.

Take the cooked bacon and chop up into little bacon bits.

Add the cheddar, mozzarella, salmon, red onion and bacon bits on the pizza, spread out evenly. Feel free to reserve some cheese to spread a small amount over the top of the other toppings. Sprinkle salt, pepper, and garlic powder over the entire pizza.

Take a small amount of maple syrup and brush the crust of the pizza so it crisps up in the oven.

Add the pizza stone to the oven for 12-15 minutes until crust is at desired crispness and cheese is melted.

Add fresh arugula and dill to the top and enjoy!
